Breakfast Menu Plan
Lunch - leftovers or whatever for me (kids eat school lunch and they typically provide lunch for my husband at work)
Dinners (we eat a primalish/paleoish diet with very limited grains):
- I am making Flank Steak on Monday...again I didn't really follow the recipe. It's been marinating for several days so I'm hoping it's good.
- Beef Stew
- Pizza for the kids, hubs is gone, not sure what I'll have yet
- Taco potatoes (taco meat over baked potatoes)
- french toast recipe
- LynnsKitchenAdventures.com Panera's Creamy Potato Soup (didn't make last week)
- Hubby cooks - I always try to have meat on hand and he's great at whipping stuff up. Last week it was chili
Other recipes I want to try:
pork chops, Qdoba's steak - SimplyRecipes , ThePioneerWoman steak bites
Note: KISS night (keep it simple silly - same thing every week) was on Wednesday. Burgers, green beans, baked sweet potatoes (for hubs and me) and smoothies. I'm not sure what I'm going to do instead....maybe a taco night. 3 out of 4 people were tired of burgers. I will be doing a KISS night next week, but not sure what it will be yet.

There is definitely a pattern going on here. Pause, aware, and being present are goals that I've had in previous weeks. Now that I have a teen and a tween I think a lot about the time I have left with them. When do I enjoy them the most? When I allow myself to stop running around. I love being busy, but that's not always a good thing. When they want to just "hang out" it goes against my nature. A couple of weeks ago my daughter and I talked for two and 1/2 hours. We did NOTHING - it was fabulous!
We had so much fun playing around on Saturday night. We played foos ball and games on the wii. This time with our children is so precious and so short. How do you want your children to remember you when they are grown up?
I want them to know that I had TIME for them. Obviously we can't sit around and do nothing all day long, nor can we play all day long either. I'm searching for a balance here. Any words of wisdom from people who have "been there done that"? Would love to hear it!

I had to click through to see the French toast recipe; gosh it looks wonderful!! I love the way you faithfully do menus every week; mine have fallen by the wayside.
ReplyDeleteYour menu always sounds good! I tried a grain-free banana pancake a few months ago and they did not turn out well at all. It was a bummer because I was so hoping they would be awesome!

Mary - I'm just getting back into menu planning...too much planning causes me to rebel, but no menu planning causes too much boredom in the kitchen.

Its so neat that you posted this today...this morning, both the kids ended up in our bed on either side of me, after hubby went to work. I layed there thinking how Moody Mondays are so busy, need to do laundry, some homeschooling, work out, feed the kids, etc...I needed to get up & do my devotion but didn't want to wake the kids...and then I just relaxed & watched them sleep, then cuddled. I then thought; " I somehow think I will not regret doing this". But it can't be a daily thing either..balance! Thanks for sharing.
