Homemaking: Menu Plan and Intentional Living 10/24/11

Live an intentional life by planning your days...

FYI - My Homemaking goals are listed below my Menu Plan.

Menu Plan

Last week we tried the Ground Beef Curry from The Local Cook. Everyone really liked it - not a family favorite that they want me to make over and over, but we all enjoyed it (I probably liked it more than anyone because I LOVE strange combinations of food).

I tried LifeAsMom's Jalapeno Popper Potatoes. Well, I kinda / sorta tried them. I think if you made them like her recipe they would be OUTSTANDING! I'll have to tell you how I did it because it seemed easier, but I think bacon is probably key in this recipe and I didn't make any due to pure laziness.

Breakfast Menu Plan
Lunch - leftovers or whatever for me (kids eat school lunch and they typically provide lunch for my husband at work)

Dinners:
  1. Gumbo - I'm going to try some variation of this...sounds like you need to add chicken broth from the comments (didn't try this last week)
  2. Beef Stew - (didn't try this last week)
  3. See one of the many recipes below....kind of depends on what kind of meat I can pick up at the butcher shop.
  4. Tacos, refried beans (from the freezer) and rice.
  5. KISS (keep it simple silly - same thing every week) Wednesday: Burgers, green beans, baked sweet potatoes (for hubs and me) and smoothies (I might need to change this...my family gets tired of hamburgers, but they never get tired of tacos).
  6. LynnsKitchenAdventures.com Panera's Creamy Potato Soup
  7. Hubby cooks - I always try to have meat on hand and he's great at whipping stuff up. Last week it was chicken wings....I still want chili (I've said this for three weeks now)!
Other recipes I want to try:
MoreThanMundane posted this magic sauce recipe.
Flank Steak,  french toast recipepork chops, Qdoba's steak - SimplyRecipes

** Be sure to check back on Friday to see how primalish eating on a budget worked out for us!

Goal Setting posts:

My one word this week:
PAUSE

Pause to enjoy life - enjoy the process of everything I do from writing an ebook to creating calendars for Christmas. Pause before I speak to my husband....pause before I judge others. PAUSE. ENJOY LIFE.

ENJOY THE JOURNEY

During our family outing last week we saw peacocks - wish I would have had my camera! My daughter fell down while acting like a peacock, apparently she was fine because then started acting like the turkeys we saw. We heard the lion roar - kind of creepy! It's ironic that my husband ALWAYS wants to go on a hike. The three of us reluctantly go, but once we are out in the forest we LOVE it!!!

My kids talk to each other about school and school events instead of fighting. It gives us time to talk to our kids about a lot of different things - seems like they talk to us more because it's a safe environment?!?
My daughter is almost done with volleyball.
We're both very sad - LOVE IT!!!
This is the decorating my son did last week - excuse the horrible picture taking skills....
Not my idea of a cute decoration!!!

Not sure where my son got his artistic talent....definitely not from me!
Caesar (the newest boxer) has to be in ALL pictures.

  1. Nice pics and interesting recipes! You eat a lot of meats and that is great for your body. I wish we ate more meats. Lately, we've been eating a lot of chicken and beans, which are yummy too!
