Feeding Souls Not Filling Holes

I cannot remember where I saw this - we are "feeding souls, not filling holes" when talking about feeding our children.

As my children get older and bigger they eat. and eat. and eat.

I don't have to cook/bake near as much as I did before I changed the way we eat - way fewer carbs and a lot more protein, veggies, fat and fruit. However, it's still time consuming to feed your family wholesome, "whole" foods instead of a bunch of processed foods.

I'm grateful (usually) that I'm home to prepare these foods, but sometimes I need a bit of an attitude adjustment. Like today. My list of things to do includes:
  • slice and marinade beef for jerky
  • make blueberry yogurt roll ups
  • make black beans and rice for lunches tomorrow
  • make salad fixins' for tonight's meal
  • stop at the store and buy a few more things
  • etc (I know there is more, but can't remember!)
I need to stop thinking about how many things I need to cook today and start focusing on all of the yummy foods that I have the PRIVILEGE to prepare for my family.
