Parenting Suggestion

My kids are 13 and 11. I often times leave them home alone because I believe that they are old enough. I feel comfortable with them at home. However, there are times that I leave them home simply because it seems like more work to take them with me.

Just because they are old enough to stay home alone, doesn't mean that they should! 

Every time I leave home without them, I'm missing out on an opportunity to talk to them, to teach them things. I miss out on things that they would talk to me about. When I'm with them I listen to their horrible music and find out things that I need to know. I don't WANT to know these things, but I NEED to know these things if I'm going to be a good parent.
