I splurge on "weird food". I get a huge allowance, $60 per month. Actually that has to buy clothes, books, scrapbooking things, etc. so it doesn't go far, but it feels huge to me compared to what I used to get!
Anyway, last month I bought garlic stuffed olives and bleu cheese. Nobody else eats these things so I buy them with my own money. I love weird food!
I also splurge on jewelry. I went to a Silpada party that my friend was having and spent $150 on jewelry. I spent every penny that I had received from my birthday money. I had NEVER EVER done that before. That was 4 years ago and I still wear that jewelry. Every time I look at it I'm amazed that I spent that much money.
Can you be frugal and still splurge? I have no idea - this is your random post for the day...

Interesting thought (and glad to see you have such a small "entertainment"-as we call it-budget)...I think when I'm able to host a party, like I just did a Thirty-One products party, and I can get free or reduced items, that feels like splurging.

ReplyDeleteYes, Money Saving Mom posted about this recently. She gets her hair (highlighted? colored? can't remember, and) cut at a salon. She likes how they do it better and it styles better than trying another low cost way. And she and her husband think it's worth it! I think we're frugal so we can choose how to splurge and spend our $ in other areas w/o going into debt. We're going against the tide in America and it's definitely worth it!! I buy Bounty paper towels b/c I think they're better and worth the extra cost (buy I buy on sale and with a coupon). :) My husband and I splurge in different ways throughout the year, it may be a book here or electronics there or date night BUT it all needs to budgeted for not something we're going into debt over.
