I am not teaching my children to become self-sufficient people.
There is no reason that my kids can't get their own spoon in the morning during breakfast. I found out a few years ago that our mornings go much smoother if I do everything for them. This is getting ridiculous though - they can't seem to do anything for themselves. At 13 and 11 this is insane!
Changes will be on the horizon in our home. I need to teach them how to become responsible people! That is the main part of my job!
I love the saying - Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll have food for life. Fitting in this case don't you think?
I'm doing the same thing with my 15 and 12 year olds! It's hard to change a lifetime habit, but I'm starting to see some results.
