A Frugal Life

Do you ever feel like you are the only person who is frugal? I've felt like an outsider looking in for many, many years. I have said before that I'm not naturally frugal. However, I found that if I was frugal, then I could stay at home with my babies. Although my babies are now 11 and 13, I can't imagine going to work outside the home full time. I don't condemn anyone if these choose to do that, but I know myself too well to think it would work out well for me.

Many years ago while browsing the internet on a very ssssslllllloooooowwww dial up connection, I found my home away from home. A place where I fit in. A place where people knew my name...wait wasn't that the show Cheers?  Anyway, it was a place where people understood where I was coming from and had the same interests. It's a website and forum called Frugal-Families.

Thankfully I have a few friends now in real life that are in the same situation as I am. I have found that the more frugal I am, the more natural it becomes. Today, my frugality "job" helps us pay our piles of student loans back a little bit easier.

Do you want to connect with like minded people? Are you trying to figure out what the frugal life is all about? I suggest that you check out the website Frugal-Families!

This works for me! Check out other WFMW tips!

P.S. I am not paid at all for advertising for Frugal-Families. Connecting with other people is important so I thought I'd share this fabulous forum!

  1. I'll check it out. I used to subscribe to Tightwad Gazette (back when it was a newsletter, not a book). Remember that newsletter? That was back in the good old days of paper mail. I still own all the issues.

I like to think that I'm not only saving money, but I am creating recreation time for my family, particularly DH. Since I am doing all these things during the day, that frees up time for everyone in the evening to enjoy, instead of doing chores.

  2. What I have learned from the various blogs and sites promoting the frugal life is immeasurable. Frugal Families is one of them. I had some debt problems for a while and it is with that knowledge I was able to keep my head ever-so-slightly above water. Things have begun to turn around (my kids are grown and only 2 live at home now, my husband recently got a promotion and I got a small raise at my 15-hours-a-week job) but now I know I will never fall back into that spending/owing/choking on debt trap again! At the very least, I've become so good at stockpiling and couponing that we'll be able to eat, and brush our teeth, for a long time without me shopping, LOL!
