Delayed gratification: Deferred gratifcation or delayed gratification is the ability to wait in order to obtain something that one wants. This ability is usually considered to be a personality trait which is important for life success. Daniel Goleman has suggested that it is an important component of emotional intelligence. People who lack this trait are said to need instant gratification and may suffer from poor impulse control.
I think that being frugal can be defined as a person who is able to delay gratification in their life.
Guess what was on sale at the store? Cream cheese - yep, I waited until it went on sale just so I could save $.50. You can read over on my other blog Grocery Store Plan why in the world I would do this.
Delaying gratification saves money and provides excitement in my day. When I open that grocery ad and see it's on sale I get so excited. Some people would say - "get a life" - I say "I LOVE LOVE LOVE my simple life."
Waiting for a sale works for me!

There are few things we can't do without for a while in order to save some money. Sure fifty cents doesn't seem like a lot...but it adds up! And your cream cheese tastes just as good at 50 cents off than at full price, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteGet a life? That is my life. LOL! :)
ReplyDeleteThe savings do add up and by practicing delayed gratification we then have that money for future needs and sometimes a special want from time to time.
Great points!
