Dave Ramsey - Order Your Credit Report

In our Financial Peace University class, Dave Ramsey recommends checking your credit report every three months. He said he actually recommends people having insurance against identity theft because if someone steals your identity then it takes HOURS and HOURS to fix. You won't be held responsible, but you will waste a lot of time fixing the problem.

We finished our class in November and I'm just now getting around to ordering my credit report. It was SOOOO easy order! Just go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com/. Select just one of the reporting agencies this time. In three months select another reporting agency so every three months you'll get a credit report.

I found an open account at Home Depot from 2003. We bought a freezer, used the 10% off when you opened a new account and then we've never used the card again. I called Home Depot to cancel the card, but they told me if it's been inactive for 2-3 years then it doesn't even show up in their system. I'll have to report this to get it off our credit report, but nothing else showed up that was incorrect.
