I bought 10 pounds of burger. Usually I boil it, but I read on a comment somewhere that a lady baked some burger in the oven. Ugggg! It was a pain! Boiling is definitely the way to go! It's so much easier!
Usually I put 2-3 cups of meat in a cheapie baggie and then put a bunch of cheapie baggies in a freezer ziplock bag (to avoid freezer burn). This time since I knew I was planning a OAMC session, I put enough meat for chili, tacos and burritos in a bucket, then I put the rest in baggies. Ten pounds is a LOT of beef!
Batch cooking will help you save time, money and calories (assuming you get the fast food yummy fries like I do!).

That's funny, because I do like to bake my beef in a big lasagna pan! Ha, ha, maybe I was the one who made the comment. I would find boiling it to be messy. To each our own, right?
ReplyDeleteHowever we do it, you are right...it's so much easier to put a meal together when you've already got the meat ready to go.
You know after you boil it - save the water, chill it, remove the fat and you have free beef stock too.
ReplyDeleteI just fry it up in batches and drain it really well and throw in freezer in baggies. I can't even imaging boiling it. LOL
ReplyDeleteI hate to fry it! Isn't that funny that we all have our own way. At least I'm not the only one batch cooking. Some of my friends think that I'm nuts!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking today that the pot I use is perfect (and has it's own straining lid) - I imagine that tools that you have to work with make a difference in what method you prefer.
